Funky Interior Design With Plants

One of the most underappreciated purposes of a lot of the plants we buy, is its purpose of lively, vibrant interior design. Of course, many plants love being outside in your garden and being scoffed down by insects, but some indoor plants have such a lovely way making your living space feel so bright and full of life, even apartments. Even the much larger, greener, more ‘outsidey’ plants bring such a lively feel to your living room, kitchen or even your bedroom, especially if you’re stuck with boring furniture or even wallpaper. Here are a few neat, unique ways to really bring some funk into your home.

One nifty little trick to use plants for interior design is to use a bench or cart to showcase your plant or plants inside. Instead of using your bench or cart as a book or photo stand, try displaying your Areca Palms or some lovely succulents.

Another cool, yet unconventional trick to really add some life to your home is to place an outside entrance plant inside. A little flip on this traditional outdoor home décor really brings a harmonic feeling to your home as soon as you walk inside. This doorway technique really allows you to showcase an outdoor tree or plant inside. All you need is a small shallow, rectangular surface to contain some soil and pebbles to accommodate your plant. Feel free to add a couple rocks to bring some more outdoor scenery inside.

If you’re feeling really keen to turn your home into a vibrant, ‘planty’ wonderland, why not embed some plants into your furniture? How about your coffee table? That’s one way for your morning tea or coffee to really taste fresh and organic. The table displayed below is made from rough wood that’s been painted and polished and they’re surprisingly easy to make and can purchased from a variety of places. It is simply cut into two halves, and the middle contains a removable planted box (which is optional to use). The irregular shape of the table also really gives the piece of furniture a unique, natural look.

Of course, the more traditional technique, that most plant décor enthusiasts are familiar with is, is some good old long hanging plants from the shelf or even the ceiling. So simple, yet such an amazing effect on the interior design of your home or apartment. These beautiful plants are such an aesthetic addition to your living room, bathroom, kitchen, dining room even your garage.

So enough with the conventional when it comes to decorating your house or apartment, it’s good to whacky. Next time you decide to start redecorating become bold and creative, start getting some of those outside plants, inside!
